I’ve been carp fishing for over 30 years, putting time in on waters all over the UK. Chasing big carp has always been what drives me—there’s nothing like that moment when a proper target finally slips over the net cord. Fishing isn’t just a hobby for me, it’s my life. As the owner of Steamies, everything behind the brand comes from real time on the bank, real results, and a genuine obsession with getting it right. I don’t have the luxury of living on the bank—most of my fishing is done over one or two weekends a month—so I’ve had to learn how to be efficient and make it count. I can’t wait for perfect conditions or fish around moon phases, so it’s about reading the water, trusting my instinct, and getting results when the opportunity’s there. No shortcuts, no guesswork—just experience, effort, and the drive to put big carp on the bank.

Fishing hasn’t always been a part of my life, but once I got into it, it quickly became a real passion. Outside of that, I’m a massive Formula 1 fan and a proper all-round petrolhead. Whether it’s cars or bikes, anything with an engine has my attention—but nothing quite matches the buzz of being on the bank. Fishing is where I switch off and focus. I’m always pushing myself to improve, chasing bigger fish and building towards new PBs. That drive to better myself is what keeps me coming back every session. I’m also a huge animal lover, which is a big part of why I respect the sport so much. Looking after the fish and the environment they live in is just as important as the catch itself.
